DigitaLetterpress

Ken Whitaker’s original art focuses on a variety subject matter focusing on vintage posters, indie handouts, and other odd-mannered 2D creative things.

We’re completely digital. No need for expensive printing presses, cleaning inks and spills, and once a DigitaLetterpress artwork is approved, we can go to any printshop.

Letterpress inspired posters

The simplicity and impact of posters created for concerts, announcements, and events were wildly popular in years past. I am fascinated with this form of bold letterpress art (like the artisans at Nashville’s Hatch Show Print create since 1879). With digital app tools, who needs to mess with inks or the expense of heavy Letterpress equipment and paper.

I can create custom poster art for:

  • Tech product releases

  • Concert tours

  • Special events

Comix

Supper’s Ready

Putting musical lyrics and other material into art is a dream of mine. In the case of hypnotic musical masterpieces, why not gain licensing rights to the most impressive music ever produced and turn it into a comix (and not a long, boring comic book novel)?

That’s exactly what we’ve done with an ongoing project of the brilliant Supper‘s Ready.

Logo design

The client needed a recognizable brand, something simple. Starting out with a photograph of a historic building and colors from a Croatian flag, a digital art logo was created for use as a letterhead, web page, or banner).

Handouts

7 Deadly Habits of Ineffective Software Managers

A handout that visually shows the stress of modern, overworked tech managers. 7 Deadly Habits of Ineffective Managers is our most popular live tutorial at software leadership conferences and at local PMI events. Of course, all attendees get the full-color comix to take home. Click on the graphic (on the left) to view the artwork.

True story: Before a presentation in Orlando at the annual StickyMinds Software Conference, a fellow was quietly thumbing through the “7 Habits” comix. Everyone overhead him mutter out loud, “KEE-RAP, I DO ALL OF THESE HABITS!”
